This guy is prick. Seriously. And that's why I love him so.
As many of you know, Future Foes and the discard theme have been a large part of one of my pet Vs. System decks for the longest time. And it's been frustrating to get repeatedly raped by my opponents because this team wasn't on the same power level as many of its contemporaries.
So I'm pleased to bring one of DFC's many iterations of Time Trapper to you today. Let's dig into the character a little before we dig into the card.
Remember when I called him a prick about 3 paragraphs back? Well, he totally is. As arch nemesis of the Legion of Super Heroes, Time Trapper has been causing problems for the group, and the multi-verse, for years. I recently read a Legionnaires mini-series from the 80s where the Trapper Keeper steals Live Wire and Saturn Girl's kid, just to f with them. He had no intention of keeping or hurting the kid. It wasn't part of a ploy to take over the world. He had no master plan. He just wanted to make the Legionnaires squirm for his own pleasure.
See what I mean? Prick!
And his jerky-ness comes across great in this 2-drop. First off, he has Shift, so he can be brought in for free if you play your cards right.
But more annoying than that is that damn power of his. Because his team LOOOOVES to get you to discard. And there are times where NOT discarding can cost your opponent a game. With Irregularity here, the "to discard or not to discard" question just got a whole lot tougher to answer.
If your opponent discards, he must do so carefully, because Time Trapper's power allows you to make a choice. You MAY put that card on top of it's owners deck. So - if your opponent discards garbage, bounce it to the top of his deck. And if he discards something good, keep it in his KO pile.
See what I mean? PRICK!!!
And if you think this is bad, wait until you see some of TT's other versions. For better or for worse, the Foes are no longer a Tier 9 team...
